My Story

My primary occupation is in the production of hardwood sand mold patterns which are used as tooling in any casting foundry. The pattern forms the sand mold which in turn forms the casting. These patterns can be used over and over for many years.

I practically live in the shop but my wife and I enjoy restoring classic cars. Having completed this 1969 Charger we are almost finished with another Charger, a 1973 model. The classic car shows are a lot of fun and we get to meet many good people.

I went to work in one of the three largest custom cabinet shops in the country in 1980. There is something very satisfying about creating something from nothing. Especially when it comes from the imagination. I built and equipped by own shop in 1988 for the production of cabinetry and furniture. Then in 2010, I had the opportunity to get into a much more specialized kind of woodwork.

My shop is very well equipped but it is Legacy who put me into the 21st century. I purchased the five-axis, 24 x 48 Artisan from Legacy in 2014 and have been working this machine at a rate of eight to twelve hours a day for weeks and even months at a time. The sand mold pattern is the most precision woodworking I have ever seen or heard of. I will not hesitate to say that no one else has put Legacy Artisan to the test as I have for precision and durability. One of the best investments I have ever made. You can’t go wrong with Legacy, I stand by that!
